Spiritual Gifts – Words of Knowledge
Scripture: 1Corinthians 12:8b
Thank God It’s Sunday!
Decree this out loud before you go to church today in Jesus name,
I decree, no strange fire shall take away GOD’S deposits of prosperity, salvation and long life in me, because greater is HE that is in me, than he that is in the world, in the Name of JESUS.
Yesterday we said,
Word of wisdom is the supreme intelligence that belongs to God and is conveyed to others through speech or writing.
Today we take a look at
▪WORD OF KNOWLEDGE▪
What is WORD OF KNOWLEDGE?
It is a gift that has been associated with the ability to teach the faith, but also with forms of revelation similar to prophecy.
Among Pentecostal and charismatic Christians, the WORD OF KNOWLEDGE is often defined as the ability of one person to know what God is currently doing or intends to do in the life of another person.
It can also be defined as knowing the secrets of another person’s heart or knowing things about a person which have not been disclosed to you by the person.
Word of wisdom, WORD OF KNOWLEDGE and prophecy often work together but they are not the same(we will go deeper into this in a couple of days).
I call this gift a ‘wow gift‘. If you have ever seen this gift in action you will never cease to be amazed.
To most it is a sure evidence that one is dealing with a ‘Godly’ person of great power. This may be true but the fact is practitioners of the occult can give the illusion of operating under this gift. They often use the services of familiar spirits or demons to mimic this gift. Some confidence tricksters may not necessarily operate from the spiritual but are just great observers, great listeners and by experience in trial and error are able to come up with information that may be true but will used to a selfish end. Once they have gained your confidence they can manipulate you for personal gain.

In 1Cor12:8b the Apostle Paul writes;
➡………….to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,⬅
Remember the gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT are for the profit of all including you.
I operate in this gift but by experience it is not everything HE lets me know that HE wants me to say. Sometimes the knowledge is for my benefit only and is to help me focus prayer. I always have to pray that Lord keep me humble because this is a very powerful gift indeed. In immature hands you can easily lose focus from GOD onto self. Many use this gift to ‘play to the gallery’. Calling out peoples dates of birth, bank account numbers and the colour of one’s underwear will at best draw attention to self rather than GOD.
I cannot stress enough this gift must be handled with utmost care and maturity.
GOD willing we will continue tomorrow in JESUS Name.
